Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Bow: The Prince of Darkness Says Goodbye at 76
I don’t usually write stuff like this, but today hit differently.
Saturday morning in Alexander City was supposed to be quiet. It usually is. You hear a lawn mower, maybe someone sweeping a porch. But not this time. By noon, folks were talking about what happened on Washington Street — and just like that, everything felt different.
A man named Toyias Gopher was found shot in his house. Shot multiple times. They say he was 32. I didn’t know him personally, but a friend of mine did. Said he was a real quiet dude. Just kept to himself, didn’t start trouble. You never expect something like that to happen to someone like him.
And now two guys are in jail for it. Steven Abercrombie and Quamaine Etchison — I only recognized one of those names. From what’s being said, they were stealing guns earlier that day, then somehow ended up at Toyias’s place. That part’s still confusing. Nobody knows why it happened or what really went down inside that house. All we know is he’s gone now.
They’re calling it capital murder. Sounds serious, and honestly, it should be.
What really shook me was how fast everything unfolded. One minute it’s a quiet morning, the next there are blue lights and crime tape, and folks whispering across fences trying to make sense of it all. My mom lives not far from there, and she called me just to say, “Lock your doors.”
I don’t know how the justice system will handle this. I heard the local DA stepped away, and now the state is involved. That’s big. But legal stuff aside, there’s still this hole left behind. A man who was just… home. That’s it. At home. And now he’s gone.
Makes you think, doesn’t it?
