Rappers are upping their attacks against President Trump. Eminem released a song telling Trump supporters “f**k you!” Now, in response to President Trump’s slogan ‘Make America Great Again’, Snoop Dogg has released a song called M.A.C.A. or “Make America Crip Again.” If you don’t know, the ‘Crips’ are one of the most dangerous gangs in America.
The worst part of Snoop Dogg’s song isn’t that he is mocking Trump, it is that he is praising the virtues of this gang and sending a dangerous message to young children.
“The president says he wants to make America great again. F**k that s**t. We going to make America Crip again,” said Snoop Dogg. “Don’t you look strange having all that power? But you won’t make change,” he says.
However, in an interview with Rolling Stone he claimed his song is not a political statement against Trump. He then talked about how the Crips are a misunderstood violent gang and that they also do a lot of good. “It’s not a statement or a political act. It’s just good music. Certain people feel like we should make America ‘great again,’ but that time they’re referring to always takes me back to separation and segregation, so I’d rather ‘Make America Crip Again,’” said Snoop Dogg.
“In my lifetime, that’s when young black men in impoverished areas organized to help their communities and to take care of their own because society basically left them for dead. A lot of people glorify the gang-banging and violence but forget that in the beginning, the Crips’ main and sole purpose was to be the reflection of the Black Panthers. They looked after kids, provided after-school activities, fed them and stepped in as role models and father figures,” said Snoop Dogg.
