MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Leaves Republican Party, Registers as Independent

Joe Scarborough, the host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program has officially left the Republican Party and has registered himself as an independent and unaffiliated voter this Thursday, in his home state of Connecticut.

Scarborough broke the news by posting a picture of himself holding what he said was a “copy of Donald Trump’s birth certificate” on his official Twitter account, declaring his independence. And aside from being meant to spread the news of him being an independent voter, it also had the goal of mocking the “birthers” or people who demanded to see former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate after questioning whether he was really born in the U.S.

But the host’s decision didn’t come as a surprise as Scarborough first announced his plan to leave the party three months ago during an appearance on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“I am a Republican, but I’m not going to be a Republican anymore,” said Joe, who is a former congressman representing Florida’s first congressional district. Since President Trump took office, the host has been a loud outspoken critic of his presidency, as well as his Republican Party which elected him, and his most recent rant against the POTUS was just two days ago on Wednesday, when he blamed Trump as the reason for the destruction of the Republican party.

President Trump on the other hand was very aware of the remarks the host had made, and he later singled out NBC News in a tweet, claiming it was more dishonest than CNN.
