In the wake of powerful hurricanes which hit the American soil, the United States has
another natural disaster to worry about. These days the sky under some parts of California has turned orange due to the devastating wildfires which have taken the life of 27 people.
“You all know the weather conditions — we’re going to see these conditions continue for the next several days, minimum. And we’re planning for that, we’re staffing for that. But it’s going to be a long haul,” said Ken Pimlott, director of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
California faces with 22 powerful fires, which have caused huge damage. Pimlott noted that, in the last two days, more than 170,000 acres have been burned and destroyed an estimated 3,500 structures.
Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano said authorities were still looking for 285 people reported missing. Of 600 people reported missing, 315 have been found safe, he said. Of the 27 people who have lost their lives, 15 were killed in Sonoma County.
Evacuation orders are issued in several communities affected by the fires. Over the worsening conditions, the officials has expanded the evacuation order to the entire town of Calistoga in Napa County, which has a little more than 5,000 residents.
Santa Rosa Mayor announced that more than 2,800 residences have been destroyed by wildfires.
An evacuation advisory was issued for the north side of Sonoma County and for Boyes Hot Spring. To the community of Geyserville were ordered a mandatory evacuations.
Now, more than ever we need to stick together as a nation in order to help those affected by the beastly wildfires, which are raging in California. Please keep pray for the victims and their families.
