Before Donald Trump won the presidency, he promised that he would crack down on immigration hard and that’s what he is doing.
PORTLAND, Ore. – This week U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 84 illegal aliens during a three-day operation in the Pacific Northwest.
KATU reported that the operation targeted illegal immigrants who broke immigration laws or pose a public threat.
ICE officials told the reporters that 60 of those people detained have criminal histories. Some of them would be even federally prosecuted for re-entering America, after they were deported, officials said.
Of those arrested, 45 were in Washington, 35 in Oregon, while 4 were taken into custody in Alaska.
“This operation highlights our commitment to promoting public safety through the pursuit of targeted criminals residing in the U.S. illegally,” said Bryan Wilcox, acting field office director for Seattle ICE’s Enforcement & Removal Operations.
Last week’s arrestees came from 12 countries: Mexico (64); Guatemala (8); Honduras (2); El Salvador (1); United Kingdom (1); Cambodia (1); Brazil (1); Laos (1); Philippines (2); Western Samoa (1); Myanmar (1); and Russia (1).
The detainees included 77 men and 7 women.
