A Democratic lawmaker Jamie Raskin plans to initiate impeachment process against President Donald Trump. It seems that Dems are still not over the fact that Donald Trump is the next President. They tried to do everything to stop him, but all those efforts have fallen on their faces. Now they are moving on. Instead of accepting the outcome, Dems have decided to push harder and be as disruptive as possible during his administration.
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin is the U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 8th congressional district. It appears that he wants to make his mark, by impeaching the President-elect. Raskin currently serves as a professor of constitutional law at the American University law school.
“Right now it looks pretty obvious that he’s on a collision course with the Emoluments Clause,” Raskin asserted. “He has refused to divest himself of tens or hundreds of millions of dollars of business interests he has around the world doing business with foreign governments,” reports Daily Caller.
Early in January, Donald Trump announced that he will leave all of this business to his two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. His daughter Ivanka moved to the Capitol with Jared Kushner, with a place in the White house.
“It says that no elected official, either member of Congress or the president of the United States, can accept a gift, an emolument or any payment at all from a foreign government,” Raskin continued. “He [Trump] just simply refuses to accept that reality. So if he goes into office and he refuses to divest himself, the moment that the first conflict comes up, that’s going to look like an impeachable offense.”
Raskin drew sustained applause from the boisterous crowd of supporters at a recent event, when he said:
“I want to say this, for Donald Trump — who I may well be voting to impeach — over the next year or two…
“But wait, but wait,” he said trying to regain control of the crowd of SJWs, Muslims, gender activists, and professional protesters.
“I wanna say this for Donald Trump, because you can find it online, he has said several times,in questions about health care, that we need health care for everybody.”
Any member of the House of Representatives can initiate impeachment proceedings, much like a bill is introduced.
In order for an impeachment to be successful, the rules are as follows:
“A majority of the members of the House must vote for the charges in order to impeach the president. After the charges of misconduct are filed, the Senate has the power to try impeachment cases like a court. Two-thirds of the senators must vote for conviction.”
The chances of impeachment are very low, but it’s interesting how Dems still can’t accept the fact that Donald Trump will be our President instead of Hillary.
