Leonardo DiCaprio have met with Donald Trump to talk about how jobs centering on preserving the environment can enhance the economy.
Terry Tamminen, the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio foundation, confirmed the meeting Wednesday at Trump Tower in a statement to The Associated Press.
Tamminen says he and DiCaprio presented Trump, his daughter Ivanka, and other members of Trump’s crewwith a “framework” on how focusing on renewable, clean energy could create hundreds of thousands of job.
“Today, we presented the President-select and his advisors with a framework — which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details the way tounleash a major economic revival across the US this is focused on investments in sustainable infrastructure,” Tamminen stated in a statement to The Associated Press. “Our conversation targeted on how to create millions of secure, American jobs within the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation.”
The 90-minute meeting comes after Trump picked Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental protection agency. Pruitt has stated he’s skeptical of climate change and opposes President Obama’s measures to curb globalwarming.
DiCaprio has been a strong advocate of fighting climate change and keeping flora and fauna. His latestdocumentary, before the Flood, addresses the peril that the world faces due to climate change.
